I love what Marie Burke said. She’s exactly right. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the many forms of farming situations in our class. My farming style has only changed a little but my confidence has grown. It is about finding “my tribe”. With the variety of ages and farming situations there was something to offer and learn all round. All course presenters were brilliant.
How did my life change? Well where do I start?? Through AWDT programmes I found my ‘tribe’ as they say. I found rural women like me, I found connection, support, encouragement, self confidence, new knowledge and friendship. The programmes I’ve done have provided some of the best personal and professional development I’ve had the good fortune to be involved in. Spending quality time focusing on our farming business, and myself as a person has literally changed my life, and I couldn’t be more grateful to Lindy and the AWDT team. My advice to others? If you’re thinking of doing one of the programmes, don’t hesitate just do it, it will definitely be well worth your while.

Te Uru Rākau (Forestry NZ) are designing a new website to help landowners, iwi and farmers learn how to invest in trees on their land and generate the best outcomes.
The Ministry for Primary Industries project team are looking for volunteers to help vet their new online resource – ensuring its useful and meets landowners’ needs.
Feedback will be sought in an interview over zoom or face to face. If you are interested in knowing more about the project, please contact Kirstie by email Kirstie.lester@mpi.govt.nz.
