#EscalatorAlumni Helen Gilder recently joined fellow Alumni Sandra Matthews, when she “paid it forward” as guest speaker at the UYFB graduation in Lawrence - her farming story entertained, engaged and inspired.
As past winners of the Otago BFEA and with their continued efforts in this area, Helen and husband Peter remain committed to taking positive action to enhance and upgrade their environment where-ever and when-ever possible. The local Waitepeka wetlands is one such project.
Helen is a super ambassador for not only her own business, but the wider agri sector - ensuring there is a clear link between NZ’s farming environments, international markets and the authentic story we can then tell when we are doing the right thing and “on top of our game”.
Not only is her increased confidence showing up in the environmental projects but also in her involvement in the direct marketing of their venison and grass fed lamb. Helen credits her increased confidence and focus with AWDT’s Escalator programme.

Good work Helen, looking really good
I love love reading stories like this - and reflecting back to when I first met Helen on Escalator, then watching her and her influence at the Farm Environment Awards- love that women inspire and influence other women
Well done Helen.
