Power Up
Alumni Development
A one-day development programme to understand your personal power, refine your communication in tricky situations and learn more about employment law.
Draw on your personal power to increase your success
The world is changing fast, and so is the way we lead, influence, and create impact. How we use our power—big or small—needs to evolve with it.
In 2025 we invited Escalator, Wahine o te Whenua and Next Level Alumni members to join us for a special Power Up workshop in Wellington on 20 August. To make time to step back, reconnect, and invest in they you lead—on farm, in their community, or in their workplace.
This one-day workshop is designed to give you practical tools while creating space to reflect on your own leadership journey. It’s also about learning together in the way AWDT alumni value most—through shared experience, open conversation, and connection with others who get it.
Delivered in partnership with Gita Jayaram Consulting.
This one-day workshop is split into 2 parts:
Morning: Personal power and confidence
- Understanding our personal power and how to use it
- Our values and how they impact behaviours
- Techniques to communicate boundaries, state expectations and ask for what we want
- How employment law works
Afternoon: Managing Others
- Motivating ourselves to deal with tough stuff
- Practicing techniques to communicate accurately and clearly
- Applying communication techniques and knowledge of employment law to real-life scenarios
- Holding your ground, being understood and deflecting unhelpful behaviours
We’re thrilled to have Gita Jayaram as our facilitator. Gita is an experienced consultant and facilitator with over 15 years in leadership development, organisational design, and diversity. She also brings extensive HR leadership experience, making this especially valuable for anyone managing or growing teams. Her approach is practical, warm, and no-nonsense—focused on real outcomes you can use.
Following the programme participants will:
- Understand personal power and building confidence
- Be able to set clear expectations and and boundaries
- Be equipped with a range of techniques to resolve conflict
- Have greater knowledge about New Zealand employment law and right
And of course a great opportunity to connect with other Alumni members.
This programme is exclusive to Escalator, Wāhine o te Whenua and Next Level Alumni.
Anyone managing a team will find value in this programme.
We’re offering this workshop at a special alumni rate of $500+GST per person, with only 20 places available to keep it personal and meaningful.
If the programme fee or the travel costs are a barrier, please get in touch and tell us a bit about your situation – Halter have provided a couple of scholarships to support attendees on this programme.
