YOU Matter | Growing Wāhine Leadership

An opportunity to pause, re-energise and build the courage, mindset, skills & connections for recovery

This was a unique opportunity supported by the Ministry for Primary Industries to set aside the to-do list and take some time out following the 2023 significant weather events.

Participants discovered the power of giving themselves permission to pause, connect, re-energise and learn in a calm, safe and supportive space. Then explore possibilities for positive changes that go the distance and speak to the core of who they are. Oh, and have some fun in the process!

Part 1: Residential/ Wananga – 2 days & 2 nights

Part 2: Group session 1 – Online Zoom

Part 3: Reconnection in-person – 1 day

Part 4: Group session 2 – Online Zoom

With the support of expert AWDT facilitators and a group of like-minded women, participants walked forward inspired, energised and connected with:

  • New awareness of themselves, and how to use their strengths and values to guide short or long-term decisions and next steps
  • Practical tools and techniques to support their own wellbeing and resilience, and that of their whānau, team or community in the recovery
  • New goals, however small, and a realistic action plan to support themselves and the people and places they care about
  • Lasting connections with women united by shared experiences
