Our Impact
AWDT’s range of fit-for-purpose programmes, events and support services have evolved and grown since 2010 to meet the needs of industry organisations and individual participants.
So far we have worked directly with more than 4,500 women in primary industries and rural communities to build their skills and confidence. They are now making a big impact at all levels – in farming businesses, in boardrooms, in management and in communities.
As AWDT graduates understand their purpose and begin to fulfil their potential, they are taking on new challenges and increasing their contributions. This creates a ripple effect that is transforming, farming businesses, communities and the wider industry.

“Taking stress home was a big issue for me… but now when I close that gate, I’ll leave the problem there. I don’t take it home.”
Like a lot of rural people, Catie Avery prides herself on being a problem solver. But when problems stack up setting boundaries around work and prioritising wellbeing, becomes a critical skill.
For Catie, that looks like genuinely focusing on family time in the weekends, and leaving the problem solving for Monday.
To learn and practice simple tools for prioritising your wellbeing, join us at ‘Know your Mindset. Do what Matters’ - our new programme supporting rural people to navigate change.

Farmers under pressure: ‘This is not what I signed up for’
www.stuff.co.nz
A Canterbury dairy farmer believes the rural sector has become a “pressure cooker” and is taking a toll on farmers’ mental health. We don't have a big farm and we couldn't live off it if we had to but like many others, am still feeling the pressures of government ideas often thought up by those who have never stepped in a cow pat let alone ear tag a calf. I often wake up in the morning thinking "we need to get out of this" followed by the thought "this is my life!" It doesn't take too much imagination to work out how it feels for those of you for whom it is your income AND your life.
I'm not a farmer but you have been bombarded with new regulations, pressure to make the land work harder due to crazy land values and dealing with new technology. No wonder your stressed. I feel for you.
An excellent initiative, well done 👍
Coming from a farming background I feel for these guys who have to bow to this govt who have no damn idea how to run a business let alone live with Mother Natures variables daily & get yr hands dirty! All power to the farmer who puts food on the nz table!!! Good luck to you all
Good job Sam
Sounds good

The GOVT is directly responsible for the pressures faced by kiwi farmers, it is screamingly obvious the government is no friend to the NZ agricultural industry.
Get out of the ag business and you will feel much better youtu.be/FprMvJYnD44
sell ya 250k tractor n buy an old ford
"He said extensive administrative duties, brought about by so-called high-handed regulations on farm, and a labour shortage meant he was one of many who spending significant time in the office, as opposed to out on the paddock." Those supposedly high handed regulations are there so you can export your products. It still makes me laugh that they have no idea why these regulations are needed, MPI makes it a breeze as everything is pretty much done for you. And yes I have been audited plenty of time over the last 20 odd years. Regarding staffing levels , all businesses have to change how they see staff, staff don't "Have" to work for you, if someone offers something better why would you expect them to stay. Just like going to different stock agents and getting the best price for your beef / lamb .
Good one..
Farmers are soft not like the 60-70-80s
Unfortunately us humans became so dependant on , "uncle Sam" that we allowed him to" rescue "with cash and in doing so, became dependant on " him" and stopped thinking for ourselves. Thus losing control of all out lives. Uncle Sam was kind and gave us so many " amazing life saving goodies" that we, in the past, managed very well without. Now folks, if this carries on its journey, we need to find out how the "past" worked without power etc. I'm 80 and I remember, we shared our knowledge and communicated. And we had belly laughing fun and hard work
why is ANYONE reading stuff? Dont click, dont link, turn the tv off... do not feed the machine.
Any other worker treated like farmers by this government would be on court for work place bullying for sure
I support kind to animals, farmers love freedom pork, beef and chicken. Sick and tired of lunatics advocated end of farming as we know it.
It's about to get a lot worse.
Really your other love farming or you don't were there live cows sheep and there well dead one semple sometimes it crops don't buy if you're in it for the money it's hard job 7 days a week plus your out side job enjoy not many NZ have that choice
Whinging Whinging
That's the trouble with politicans they come up with stupid ideas that never work in expect the public just to except their decisions like they actually know what their doing.
I am circulating this below msg far and wide today as the govt have not informed us of the leaders trip to Geneva. URGENT: The most serious concern CURRENTLY to our Nation is the potential LOSS of our Health SOVEREIGNTY rights being replaced by the WHO constitution in the event of a major health 'crisis'. Q. Can we trust this govt to manage the upcoming Pandemic Treaty to the satisfaction and agreement of the peoples of NZ without discussion or feedback FROM the peoples of NZ. Q. Is National in agreement with Labour on their current stance and that they have signed agreement in principle TO ALIGN NZ to this Instrument on the peoples behalf with no discussion or feedback with the nations peoples. Government being our servants. 😏 Q. Has Jacinda Adern gone to the World Economic Forums meeting in Geneva this week. The Nation deserves to know. Can we trust this govt to manage our Nation. m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10226238240565490&id=1324460777
