Wāhine o te Whenua

Te toto o te tangata he kai
Te oranga o te tangata, he whenua, he oneone.
While food provides the blood in our veins,
our health is drawn from the land and soils.

The purpose of this programme is to build awareness of the leadership opportunities available for wāhine Māori across the food and fibre sector and rural communities by empowering, equipping and supporting them to lead in influential roles.

Wāhine o te Whenua focuses on activities related to te whenua (the land), te taiao (the environment), and hauora (health & wellbeing).

Wāhine will be empowered and supported to:

  • Lead and influence positive change within themselves, their communities and areas of interest
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities and career growth across the food and fibre sector
  • Prepare for change by understaning their own unique strengths and values
